Groom: As a knight waiting to sweep his queen off her feet, the groom rides a decorated white horse with a majestic, ornate sun umbrella shielding him from the elements, only making visible the crown prince in a cream and gold color sherwani (kurta pajama) with a silk turban and a dagger used to signify his strength in protecting his bride. Though this is the typical outfit for most regions of India, some places, such as West Bengal and the South, dress the groom in a kurta and dhoti.

Bride: The bride is dressed as a queen on the wedding day, with flowers adorning her hair, mehendi on her hands and feet, bedecked in the finest jewels, the overall beauty is captured as a heavenly image in a ornate red sari (or lengha – depending on regional customs).
