What's on the Form?

Here is an explanation of the some of the questions on the form.

Your Project

We ask questions designed to ensure that the equipment we quote gives you the best value for your money. Putting the right combination of equipment with the appropriate amount of customization results in a machine or system that provides the performance and savings you need to justify the costs. When you invest a little of your time in the questionnaire, you’ve taken the first step toward the specification of a core cutting capacity that meets your needs.

Objectives

We use this feedback to ensure that the equipment meets your goals. Your answers guide us as to the degree of automation required and the type of equipment needed.

Project Vision

Your description of how you visualize the equipment being staffed and used helps us determine the scope of the project. If you visualize an operator loading and cutting cores manually, letting them fall into cartons – we know that a basic machine is the answer… assuming it meets the production requirements and project objectives.

If you see the equipment as an automated core factory where the operator never handles the parent or cut cores. We assemble a system of modules to perform the tasks involved. These systems can provide parent core cart unloading, cutting, sorting, cut core stacking, notching, capping, printing – whatever you envision. We can even download the cutting instructions from your factory network.

Project Constraints

Now that we’ve learned a little about your vision, we do a reality check. We all live in a world with monetary and space considerations. Our challenge is to give you the capability you want within the constraints you face.

Time Frame

Your answers here help us understand your project timing.

Your Cores

The parent core data tells us what space and handling considerations need be made to ensure that the flow of cores into the cutting process is handled effectively. Internal diameter (ID) and wall thickness dictate the knife and mandrels.

The maximum and minimum cut lengths dictate the targeting or cut core handling capabilities required.

We also ask whether your core has any special treatments – such as tack strips, resin coating, special liners or printing. This alerts us to these conditions so that they are provided for in our quotation.

It is important that complete data is provided on each core size and type.

Your Core Demand

Your core usage also dictates the type of equipment proposed. A user with low volume doesn’t need the same equipment as one with a need for thousands of cut cores per shift.

The set or batch question, coupled with the winder width, give us insight into your process and helps us in making recommendations to minimize core waste and reducing core inventory.

Set: Differing lengths cut sequentially from a single parent core—an advantage when a variety of core lengths are on a winder shaft.

Batch: Same lengths cut from a single parent core.

Your Plant Utilities

Ensuring that the equipment is in line with your existing electrical service and pneumatic supply.

Your Core Handling needs

If your parent core handling vision is Manual handling – check that column. If you want hands-free core handling note the appropriate style in the Auto column. The same holds for cut core handling. We’ll use this information to establish one or more methods to meet your vision and specification.

Your Core Finishing Needs

Do you have post-cutting operations that you need done automatically? If so, note them in this area. We’ll accommodate them within the scope of your vision.
