The Women's Ob-Gyn Group
Our Practice Office Hours: The office is open from 9 :00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and until 3:00 PM Fridays. We will make every effort to see you at your scheduled appointment time. When you make your appointments with the receptionist, please indicate the reason for the appointment. If you have a complicated problem, we will allow more time for the visit. If you indicate that your appointment is for an annual well woman, you will be seen for a annual well woman visit only. Additional problems will be addressed at a subsequent appointment. Doctor-Patient Relationships: Gynecologic patients are usually followed by one physician for routine office care, although any one of the doctors may cover for urgent or emergency care. Obstetric patients are followed by all seven obstetricians, as any one of the seven may be on call when obstetric patients deliver. If an obstetric patient desires to see only one physician throughout the pregnancy, we do allow this; however, again, any one of the seven obstetricians may be on call for the delivery. Routine Visits: Routine visits are recommended every year for most women. A routine visit consists of weight and blood pressure measurements along with a general physical, breast and pelvic exam with Pap smear. Additional tests may be ordered as needed. Mammograms: We recommend annual mammograms for women over the age of 40. We do not perform mammograms; you will be referred to one of the several excellent radiologists in the area who perform them. We will receive the report from the radiologist after it is done. If it is normal, the radiologist will inform you of the results, if it is abnormal, and we receive the report, we will inform you of the results and recommended follow-up. Obstetrics: Almost all of our obstetrical patients will deliver at St. Agnes Hospital. St. Agnes Hospital has both a well-baby nursery and a newborn intensive care nursery. There are occasions, however, where either the intensive care nursery is full, or the baby may need facilities and personnel not available at St Agnes, such as neonatal cardiac surgery. In these instances, it may be appropriate to transfer the mother before delivery to a "tertiary care" center, such as the University of Maryland. Hospital Admissions and Surgeries: We have admitting privileges at St. Agnes Hospital, and most of our surgeries or hospital admissions will be scheduled there. We also will have privileges at the University of Maryland Hospital for special circumstances, but we do not routinely admit patients there. Insurance Plan Participation: We participate with many local insurance plans. See the complete list. |
