RESCUE OPERATION
Letter from ROBIN KOCH
HI, I DID NOT RESCUE A DOGUE, BUT STACE EAKLE and Rockencash Rescue have helped me a lot these past few months.
I live in MA and only know Stace through email because of our mutual love of the Dogue de Bordeaux. We swap pictures of our babies and stories. Some make us laugh and others make us cry.
I used the services of Stace and her Rescue organization at the end of January 2002. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I needed to find a home for my 17-month-old Dogue de Bordeaux named Summer Reign. Summer is the sweetest, most wrinkly little red girl that you have ever seen. She loves to play, sit on your lap, eat ice cream, jog and sleep in your bed. I was devastated that I could no longer keep her and did not want to just give my baby girl away to strangers. So I called Stace... crying and wondering if she could help me.
Stace cried along with me, knowing that my heart was breaking. But she already knew of the perfect home for my littlest angel. She told me about a young man named Ryen in CA who was looking for young, active Dogue de Bordeaux. She told me that Ryen and Summer would be a "perfect match".
Stace had Ryen call me and we talked for several hours. I was confident that he would provide my little girl with a wonderful home. He said to me "Robin, as sad as you are, I am that happy." And off they flew to CA while my husband flew home.
My husband flew with Summer to Atlanta on Jan 31 and met Ryen there. Ryen says it was "love at 1st sight" and how could it not be? I was initially worried about Summer being so far away but I feel good knowing that if Ryen has a problem or concern, Stace is close by.
Thanks to Stace and Rockencash, Summer is an integral part of Ryen's life. She is happy and well adjusted and jogs 4 miles every day. Stace found Ryen for me - he updates me with pictures and email and I am still a part of her life. If it wasn't for Stace, I don't know what our situation would have been.
We need more people like Stace Eackle. I, for one, send donations to many causes and charities but one of the most important to me is Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue. People who own these wonderful animals are like family. When you see one at a show or something, you always stop and talk and "compare notes".
These are the most wonderful dogs on earth. I have had mutts, Labs, Beagles, German Shepards, etc and never will I have any other dog other than the DDB. They are gentle, sweet and even-tempered. My Isabelle is a 133-pound "lap dogue". They love to cuddle on the couch (or wherever their people are!), play, hike, relax and of course eat! They are wonderful watch dogs with a fierce bark, but all the while mine wag their tails...they have a tough time turning around in a small bathroom, but they sure make people laugh when they have to "back up" to get out! Everyone that meets my dogues falls instantly in love with them. I call them "magnificence with personality personified".
I would highly recommend anyone adopt a DDB. Not all dogues are abused... some just need homes, as was the case with my Summer. She is loved more than life itself and just needed to be relocated. These are special dogues that offer nothing but love, affection and wonderful companionship for anyone that owns one.
