    USBC Institutes Microchiping Policy

    It has been brought to our attention that more and more veterinarians will not microchip puppies before the age of 6 months; therefore the policy has been changed. Instead of being a litter registration requirement, it will now be a puppy registration requirement. The revised policy reads as follows:


    EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, it will be a puppy registration requirement that all puppies must be microchiped in order to be USBC registered. The microchip number will be shown on the printed pedigree.

    WE ARE WAITING for information from Avid Technologies on their Breeders Readers program. We will update you when the information arrives.

    BREEDERS READERS     is a special program offered to breeders in the United States which makes it easier to operate in compliance with AKC requirements. The USBC will be able to purchase chips at a discounted rate, and will be passing this savings on to our member breeders.
