OLNEY SOCCER CLUB

Olney Soccer Club was founded in 1975 and has been providing the Olney community with a quality soccer program for over a quarter of a century. We currently have 30 boys and girls select teams. Our teams travel all over the East Coast, playing in premier tournaments. We also take teams across to Europe to enhance their development.

Camp Philosophy

Improving skills through fun with the soccer ball constantly at your feet. Players will spend the majority of time in camp with a ball at their feet, gaining control of the ball and becoming more comfortable when in possession of the ball. Everything we do is aimed at the game of soccer. Players need to train for the skills they will need during a game. Much of our emphasis is on technique, insight, and communication.

Professional Coaching Staff

Pete Wood, Director - UEFA licence

A product of Sheffield Wednesday FC's youth development program, Pete has been coaching in the USA for 14 years. The first 7 years, Pete directed camps for the MLS organization in over 20 states. He has since been with the Olney Soccer Club, passing on his professional experience and knowledge to our players. Olney teams compete against the best teams up and down the East Coast. Our success is achieved through technical and tactical development paired with hard work. Pete has built up the profile of our club, taking several lower level select teams and entry level teams to Division One. His record speaks for itself.

Ian Ironside - UEFA license

Also a Sheffield native, Ian began his goalkeeping career with Barnsley FC, then transferred to Scarborough FC. From there he moved on to Middlesborough (currently in the English Premier League), followed by Stockport County FC, before seeing out his career at Oldham Athletic FC. His professional playing career spans 12 years and counts 322 league appearances. He is now Assistant Director of Coaching at Sheffield United's School of Excellence and coaches the under-17 youth team.

Alan Pringle - UEFA license

Alan hails from Sunderland and played professionally with Sheffield Wednesday FC until 1999, when a serious knee injury ended his playing career. He then turned to coaching, earning his UEFA 'A' license. Alan coaches 2 teams in the Olney Soccer Club. He also directs our successful recreational program as well as some of the area's top select teams.
