OMEGAGEAR LAUNCHES LINE OF STREET WEAR FOR GREEK-AMERICANS.

FRAMINGHAM, MA. A new and exciting line of casual street wear designed for and marketed specifically to Greek-Americans is launching with the opening of its web site on October 1, 2002. The line currently consists of men's t-shirt designs, women's t-shirt designs and baseball cap designs. The items are each emblazoned with sophisticated designs that relate directly to the target market's Greek heritage and therefore its self-image. The new brand behind this effort is called "OmegaGear."
"By designing graphics and shirts specifically for Greek-Americans, I not only embrace and celebrate my own cultural identity," explains OmegaGear founder and driving force, Christopher Seremetis, "but I am providing potentially thousands of Greek-Americans the opportunity to express themselves in a way that until now has not really meshed with their fashion sensibilities."
Through thoughtful design and keen attention to the trends of today's fashions, OmegaGear intends to catapult itself into the vernacular of Greek-American society. By remaining relevant to the aesthetic of the times, the new brand sees a huge opportunity in providing designs that can be worn in the same context and with the same enthusiasm as general American designer brands.
"I wanted to find a way to bring the ethnic pride and enthusiasm that Greeks are famous for into the realm of street wear," explains Seremetis. "Greeks love America and everything she stands for, but we also love being Greek, being with Greeks, and we also love to let others know that we are Greek. We retain or language, traditions and values with incredible fervor, even though we are completely and inextricably assimilated into American society."
OmegaGear brings urban contemporary design to its clothes that draws on the influences of American pop culture and graphic design. Seremetis has been a professional graphic designer for over 10 years and has lent his design skills to some of the world’s top brands.
