- Founded in 1993
at the Manhattan School of Music, The Arcata String Quartet has
established itself as one of the most exciting American quartets
of its generation. Protegés of the Tokyo String Quartet,
The Arcatas have played around the world and have amassed a large
repertoire, including seven concertos for string quartet and
orchestra, the entire Beethoven Quartet Cycle and five world
premieres. They were invited to make their London debut at Wigmore
Hall in September 1999. The Arcata String Quartet has released
two CDs on the Vox Label, with whom they have an exclusive contract.
They are artists-in-residence at Utah State University. MORE...
