Bar Code checkpoints

Economical, versatile, easy to install and use!

Bar codes are everywhere--they're now being applied to virtually every item sold or inventoried worldwide. Your facility management tasks can be made easier and you could save time and money by using these simple, inexpensive "code carriers" to automate routine inspections of any kind.

Deister offers a variety of bar codes for different applications and environments. We think you'll find one to meet your needs here. Of course, all of our Electronic Verification Systems are provided in kit form and include a selection of the bar codes you'll need to get started.

KSB/S:

A simple, inexpensive, self-adhesive visible (black and white) bar code printed on a vinyl material.

KSI/L:

A self-adhesive bar code which is covered with an opaque, infra-red translucent coating to prevent photocopying. This bar code will self-destruct if removal is attempted after installation. Supplied in rolls of 50.

KSI-P:

This bar code is encapsulated in IR translucent plastic to make it suitable for exposed locations or more hostile environments. The bar code itself is protected from the elements, but the KSI-P may need to be wiped off in extremely wet weather before an optical scan can be made. It can be secured with adhesives or screws; special "snake-eye" security screws are provided with each bar code purchase. Supplied in packs of ten.

KSB-CARD (Special Event Card):

This is a compact (shirt pocket-sized) bar coded card listing 35 distinct Special Event bar code numbers. A box is provided beneath each bar code so that systems managers can write the descriptions of the events to be used directly on the cards. Use of this card allows for "electronic note taking" and eliminates the need for employees to enter memorized codes into a keypad.

KSB-SP: (Personnel IDs)

A visible (black & white), self-adhesive bar code for use as a system Personnel ID. Easily attaches to the back of an existing ID card and may be laminated.

Magnetic Checkpoints

Extremely rugged and durable; ideal for hostile environments!

The KSM consists of three rows of fixed, permanent magnets which have been arranged to encode data in a format that can be captured by Deister magnetic data collectors. Ones and zeros are represented by north and south polarities--millions of different number combinations are possible.

The KSM also incorporates a large fixed magnet positioned so as to activate the collector by closing a small magnetic reed switch protected inside the reader's housing.

The KSM is rugged in design, weatherproof, exceptionally resistant to vandalism or tampering, and virtually maintenance-free. Its efficiency is unimpaired even when it is covered with up to 1 mm of ice, snow, dirt, or the like. It can be painted over with no degradation in performance.

The KSM is housed in an extraordinarily strong ABS plastic. The magnets are held in alignment by encasing them in a tough potting compound. The checkpoint may be mounted with screws or adhesives; special security screws are available from Deister.

The KSM is also available in special formats that are appropriate for registering personnel information or even events or time controls. The housings come in either black or white.

Proximity Checkpoints

These code carriers can be concealed in walls!

Since no direct contact with the Deister data collector is required to read a checkpoint in the KSC series, they can be buried inside non-metallic walls to a depth of up to 1.25 inches. This feature makes them an ideal choice for any locale, including historical sites, psychiatric facilities, or correctional institutions.

The KSC consists of an encoded, passive micro-chip transponder which derives its energy from the inductive field generated by the collector. No external power source is required; they provide years of trouble-free service.

KSC30:

The KSC30 is sealed in an ABS plastic housing measuring just 1.2 inches in diameter and about 0.4 inches thick. It can be read from a distance of about 0.80 inches (20 mm). A central mounting hole is provided; security screws are available from Deister if exposed mounting is desired.

KSC50:

Like the KSC30, the KSC50 is sealed in an ABS plastic housing but measures about 2.0 inches in diameter and about 0.4 inches thick. It can be read from a distance of about 1.20 inches (30 mm). A central mounting hole is provided; security screws are available from Deister if exposed mounting is desired.

KS12(P):

This code carrier is designed for use as an employee ID. Only 12 mm (less than 1/2 inch) in diameter, it is easy to carry or attach to an ID card or key fob.

PROX-CARD:

This card contains 15 proximity transponders imbedded in a card measuring only 5.2 x 2.8 x 0.25 inches--shirt pocket sized! It is used to record Special Events when using a proximity-based reader (such as the de Prox). A list form is provided on the back so that the employee can easily refer to the event descriptions that have been designated.
