EDI gains new ground in long term relations with the City of Berkeley !!

EDI is pleased to announce that the Berkeley City Council has awarded us our funding for the next four years!!

We are pleased to have the opportunity to continue serving the Berkeley disability community.

Every year, EDI grows in it's capacity to provide unrivaled services. The city's funds are instrumental in making us the standard for the nation in in-home personal care.

Just this year, our services grew to include a reduction in the transportation copayment, more attendant staffing and a newly funded outreach and development position.

Our funding from the city ensures that these and other improvements will be long term additions to our list of services.

EDI would like to thank the entire Berkeley City Council, the City Manager, and our contract manager for working together to make this possible.

Mission Statement

Easy Does It Disability Assistance provides specialized emergency services required by people with severe physical disabilities in the City of Berkeley. Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year we are on call for emergency attendant care and wheelchair transportation within the city limits of Berkeley. Through these vital services, Easy Does It Disability Assistance strives to provide a safety net for individuals with disabilities living independently in the City of Berkeley. Should a disabled person experience an unforeseen crisis or a temporary lapse in his or her own regular attendant care, that person can call upon Easy Does It Disability Assistance for assistance at the time of need.

Easy Does It Disability Assistance is also compiling a detailed database to assist disaster planning for disabled residents of Berkeley.

Easy Does It Disability Assistance does not provide medical care, and if it is aware of a medical emergency promptly contacts appropriate medical personnel.

Over the past Ten years, Easy Does It Disability Assistance has answered more than 30,000 service calls. We take pride in responding to the calls of our clients.

History

Easy Does It Disability Assistance is the direct descendant of programs developed in Berkeley since 1985 by people with disabilities and their friends to meet the special emergency needs of people with disabilities. Our program grew out of the disability community in Berkeley, and the efforts of many within it, to see that all disability-related needs are met.
