Technology can foster early literacy development; that much is already known. Although there is a gap between theory and practice, as always, technology is a persistent feature across the early education landscape. Here we discuss technology with reference to children's play. Just how well does technology mix with the established connection between children's play and emergent literacy? What are some pros and cons of the three-way intersection of technology, literacy, and play in early childhood education?
