This article describes the effort at Middlebury College in Vermont to include
computers and electronic networks in the foreign language program, and to
train language faculty in technology competence. Working with the Andrew
W. Mellon Foundation, Middlebury has created the Foreign Language Network
(FlanNet), an electronic conference for students and teachers of languages.
