Telemedicine and Continuing Education for Remote Practitioners

Telemedicine combines information processing and telecommunications technologies to transfer medical information across distances for diagnosis, treatment, and other purposes. This article describes the Georgia Statewide Academic and Medical System to combine distance learning with a health care network, and emphasizes its benefit to rural practicioners.
