Global Positioning System Instruction in Higher Education

Dr. Thomas A. Wikle, Dr. Lawrence R. Gering, and Dr. Dean P. Lambert

T.H.E. Journal, Vol. 24, No. 5, December 1996, p. 71-75

GPS technology, once the sole domain of the military, is now available for public use. Three professors first explain how GPS works, then provide some specific examples of how they introduce GPS to their students with field-based exercises. Forestry and geography classes are highlighted, but archeology, geology, and wildlife science are discussed as well.
