Dr. Edward A. Friedman, Joshua D. Baron, and Cynthia J. Addison
T.H.E. Journal, Vol. 23, No. 11, June
1996, p. 83-86
The authors describe specific learning opportunities now underway via
the NSF-supported New Jersey Networking Infrastructure in Education (NJNIE)
project. Their data-centered approach to science and math skills is best
described by the two examples included from each of three styles of activities:
collaborations, using public domain data bases and "visiting"
scientific labs on the Web. This large-scale project (with measurable results)
could help broaden both access and applications.
