Description:

FUNdaMENTAL is an academic programming language (in this case, a hybrid of an assembly language and object oriented programming language) that interweaves technology with learning. With FUNdaMENTAL, non-technical people can learn to program within a fun environment. Users can write games, or create interactive books, or design simple animations, or a working calculator, an autobiography, a juke box, a spelling bee, a cookbook, etc. It also allows users to create a great variety of multimedia programs.

With FUNdaMENTAL, the user programs in a world that models the behavior of a computer itself. Users believe they are actually programming a computer because FUNdaMENTAL's components literally consist of the Loop Register, the CPU, the Comparison Bit, the AC, and more, all of which refer to specific parts of the computer. By teaching young people how a computer works, FUNdaMENTAL empowers them with the vision that the computer is a machine, but a machine that can readily be understood, manipulated, and controlled.
