Description:
An interactive music tutorial designed by music teachers for use in schools and private studios. 50 graded activities cover basic music skills for students of all ages in their first two years of training.
Specific skills include:
Reading notes in the treble and bass clefs.
Matching manuscript notes with keys on a piano.
Aural recognition of melodies and rhythms.
Aural recognition of scales and common intervals.
Recognition of note names and their durations.
Review of common Italian terms and music symbols.
Recognition of common chords on manuscript or keyboard.
Aural recognition of major and minor tonality.
Practical rhythm tapping exercises (Macintosh version only)
Many activities use digitised sound to reinforce pitch and rhythm concepts, no MIDI keyboard is required. The computer responds silently with the correct answer after an error. Students learn as they play in a positive and non-threatening way.
The class teacher can cater for a large range of abilities simultaneously. Beginners can review note names while advanced students study their aural intervals. Students can get individual help in new concepts from the teacher while others are working at a level appropriate to them. With so many activities available there is always extension work available for advanced students.
The interface has been designed for users of any age or experience. Menus are hidden as all functions are linked to the screen buttons - no complex options or preferences to set up. This makes it easier for the teacher to keep track of exactly what each student is working on.
The package includes printed screen shots of every activity for teacher planning. After new concepts have been covered in class this program is an ideal way for students to consolidate their new skills.
