Description:
Personal Algebra Tutor is an algebra program that teaches students how to solve algebra problems by solving problems that the student enters. PAT solves each problem step-by-step with detailed explanations. By providing step-by-step solutions and explanations to the student's problems, the student is less likely to be stuck and unable to complete homework assignments. The explanations will ensure that the student achieves a greaterunderstanding of the topic, and develop greater problem solving abilities. The inability to complete homework assignments is a major cause of poor math capabilities and grades.
The ability to solve the exact problem that the student is having difficulty with provides a very focused capability. This is unlike other programs that provide only general theory, sample problems, or multiple choice questions. PAT gets to the point fast to eliminate frustration and improve the student's efficiency. And, PAT can also be used to check homework. It can not only be used to point out errors in the answer, but can be used to show where a student has made the error. A tutorial on the subject is available via the Help button.
PAT also lets the student select the solution method that is being studied at that time. For example, when solving quadratic equations, the student is often required to solve the equations by particular method. PAT lets the student solve the problem by factoring, quadratic formula, or by completing the square.
PAT solves a wide variety of topics that can be summarized as follows:
