This workshop describes a Y2K contingency planning methodology based on the Social Security Administration's standard, with best practices included from other government agencies and from industry. Participants will learn how to differentiate between risk analysis, risk mitigation, and contingency planning, and how all these elements fit together. A proposed contingency planning template is offered, and participants will create a sample plan with it. Various ways to test the validity and completeness of contingency plans will also be described. At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to enhance contingency plans they have already developed, or develop their own plans using the template.
This workshop is intended for risk managers, systems engineers, software engineers, and staff members involved in a contingency planning effort.
