Patuxent River You won't believe you're just an hour from Washington, DC, when you find yourself dozing under the stars on the unspoiled Patuxent. Paddle your way from the clear headwaters to the brackish margin between fresh and salt waters. Here's where you can observe an osprey nest, scout the old steamboat landings and view historic plantation homes. Learn how the British used this historic river in their 1812 burning of the White House. Our campsite is accessible only by boat. $240
