Topic of the Month:
DENTAL DISEASE An important health concern we see every day is dental disease. As plaque builds up on the teeth, the gums become inflamed (gingivitis) and recede, which allows bacteria to overgrow. This results in halitosis (bad breath) and teeth may loosen and fall out. We can perform dental cleanings which can prevent future problems. Details for this procedure will be discussed when you make your appointment.
You can also help your pet by brushing its teeth. A toothbrush works best for dogs while for cats, a finger brush or washcloth works better. There are flavored toothpastes available, especially formulated for pets, as the brands used by us humans can upset their stomachs. Dry food, dog biscuits, and rawhide bones will help to decrease plaque buildup as well, but will not take away the hard plaque that is already present.
