1999 Fall Nature Study Workshops

Evening Lectures and Field Trips

Fall Migrant Bird Challenges
For the novice, but beginner and intermediate birders are welcome.

In the Tuesday night sessions we will discuss tips for identifying a wide variety of confusing birds, using slides and study skins. The Saturday field trip will go to the Little Pond area and other "hot spots" on White Memorial property.
Instructor will be Wildlife Biologist and WMCC Research Director, David Rosgen, co-author of Finding Birds in Connecticut.

Part 1 - Tuesday, October 19, 7 - 9 p.m., in the Arthur B. Ceder Room.
Part 2 - Tuesday, October 26, 7 - 9 p.m., in the Arthur B. Ceder Room.
Part 3 - Saturday, October 30, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Field Trip. Meet in front of Museum.

Drawing From Nature
Noted artist and Litchfield resident F. Pieter Lefferts starts a 2-day workshop in outdoor painting at White Memorial. Individual instruction in any medium enables all levels of ability to participate. Bring your favorite art materials.

Day 2 will be led by Litchfield artist Ella Crampton Knox. Continue your project, or attend a single session. Workshops will be held indoors in the event of rain. Registration limited to 10.

Forest Management for Wildlife
Since the majority of forest land in Connecticut is in private ownership, it is necessary for the overall good of the environment to wisely protect and manage this important resource. This course will focus on a wide variety of management techniques that will benefit both wildlife and the land owner. Presented by David Rosgen, WMCC Research Director, Wildlife Biologist and author.
