Q.
Will the new courthouse cause increased traffic?
A.
No, if anything there should be reduced traffic in Litchfield Center because the traffic from the northeast area will no longer go through town.
Q.
Will the new courthouse have a restaurant within the facility?
A.
Absolutely not! Only minimal food services, such as vending machines, will be provided.
Q.
Will the water source for the new courthouse be available for future development along Route 202?
A.
DPW and Bridgeport Hydraulic have discussed the possibility of a dedicated water line. We are cautously optimistic that it can be accomplished.
Q.
How will you guard against pollution from oil and salt run-off from 300 space parking lot?
A.
Oil separators to collect run-off are built into the design for the parking lot.
Q.
Will the new courthouse spoil Litchfield's rustic landscape?
A.
Definitely not. Not only will the architecture be in harmony with the surroundings, but the building will not even be visible from the road.
Q.
How much ambient light will the new courthouse produce?
A.
Very little. Advanced technology for outdoor lighting can focus lights down where it is needed without illuminating the surrounding area.
Q.
How can Litchfield's residents be sure that our concerns will be taken into consideration?
A.
DPW's past performance with the Litchfield courthouse clock tower renovation showed that we are sensitive to local concerns.
