COMBINATION LOCK TECHNOLOGY I

Description: Whether you’ve never worked with combination locks, or are an old pro you are guaranteed to learn lots of helpful information in this weekend class. Everything from combination changing, to U.L. ratings, to troubleshooting, to the very latest self-powered electronic locks will be covered. This is an excellent way to bring new employees up to speed, or to show the "old timers" a few tricks they might have missed along the way!

Locks Used: Sargent & Greenleaf 6730 will be used to cover basic operating principles. Locks used for trouble-shooting section include S&G 8400; S&G 8500; Mosler MRK302; Ilco 673; S&G 6731 (4 wheel), LaGard 1980; and more. Also included is a look at the new MHG 100/200/400 Series self-powered electronic locks.

Materials: All hand-tools, locks, change keys, and other materials necessary to this program are supplied by MBA. Pertinent technical handouts will be made available for the student to take back to the job. Participants need only bring a willingness to learn.

The Program:

Day 1: Mechanical combination lock operating principals are covered in detail. Dials and dial rings; opening indexes; changing indexes; dialing procedures; combination changing; change keys; forbidden zones; contact points; handing; lock disassembling and reassembling; relock triggers; lubrication points; factory combinations; U.L. ratings, and trouble-shooting in detail.

Day 2: We apply what was learned in Day 1 in a hands-on exercise with locks that have all sorts of problems. Your job is to diagnose each lock, then apply the appropriate remedy and open it. No drilling allowed! We then move on to the latest self-powered locks from Mas-Hamilton, the 100, 200, and 400 Auditcon locks. Master codes, adding and deleting users, time delay, dual user, and audit trails are thoroughly covered.

Program Hours: 9am to 5pm, Saturday through Sunday. There will be a one hour break each day between Noon and 1pm.

Price: $350 per seat. Class strictly limited to twelve participants.
