DOD/DOE COMBINATION LOCK TRAINING
Description: A five day resident program designed to familiarize the lock technician with proper operating, service, trouble-shooting, and forced entry techniques for combination locks. This information is presented in a variety of ways to maximize the learning potential of the participants. Color graphic and video presentations, plus a thorough technical manual accent this hands-on program.
Locks Covered: Safe Locks; Mas-Hamilton X-07; Mosler MR302; Mosler MRK302; Sargent & Greenleaf 6730; 8400; 8500. Padlocks; S&G 8088; S&G 8077. Door Locks; Mas-Hamilton CDX-07; Simplex 1000 Series.
Who Should Attend: Persons engaged or expected to be engaged in work with the above combination locks commonly used by the Departments of Defense; Energy; and similar.
Materials: All hand-tools, locks, change keys, and other materials necessary to this program are supplied by MBA. Participants need not bring anything but a willingness to learn. Participants keep the program's Technical Manual for reference when back on the job.
The Program:
Day 1: Combination lock operating principals are covered in detail. Dials and Dial Rings; Opening Indexes; Changing Indexes; Dialing Procedures; Combination Changing; Change Keys; Forbidden Zones; Contact Points; Handing; Lock Disassembling and Reassembling; Relock Triggers; Lubrication Points; Factory Combinations.
Day 2: Combination Lock Compromises; U.L. Ratings; Federal Specification
FFL-2740; Classes of GSA Containers; Hardplate; Mosler MR and MRK302 safe locks in detail. Operating Procedures; Key Change and Hand Change Techniques; Disassembling and Reassembling Mosler locks; proper handing techniques; the Mosler Relock Device and how to service it.
Day 3: The Sargent & Greenleaf 8400 and 8500 Series Locks in detail; Operating Procedures; Changing Procedures; Disassembling and Handing the 8400 Dial; Thermal Relock Triggers; Disassembling and Reassembling the locks; Lubrication Points. Drilling and Opening Techniques for Mechanical Safe Locks; High speed vs. Carbide drill bits; Borescopes and their use; Drill Rigs for safes; specific Drill Points for specific problems; Dial Removal; approved Repair Techniques.
Day 4: The Mas-Hamilton X-07 Safe Lock in detail. Operating Procedures; Changing Procedures; Dual Custody Mode; Super-Sub Mode; Lock Disassembling and Part Replacement Techniques; Installation Methods; Troubleshooting; Diagnosing and Field Correcting Problems; Resetting a Combination when the Existing Combination is Unknown; Opening a Container when the Change Key has been left in the Lock; When to Drill; Dial Removal; Where and How to Drill; Red Label Drilling vs. Black Label Drilling; Approved Repair Techniques.
Day 5: The S&G 8088 and 8077 Padlocks in detail; Operating Procedures; Combination Changing Procedures; Combination Recovery Procedures; Forced Entry Techniques. The Mas-Hamilton CDX-07 for Doors; How they Operate; Installation Tips; Forced Entry Techniques. Simplex Locks for Doors; Operating Procedures; Combination Changing Procedures; Installation Tips; Forced Entry Techniques. Written Exam.
Each participant who successfully completes the program will receive a Certificate.
Program Hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. There will be a one hour break each day between Noon and 1pm.
Price: $995 per seat. Class strictly limited to twelve participants.
