Description: The ability to fit keys to a lock without taking it apart is considered a thoroughly professional skill. This is a great introduction to the craft of impressioning, and also an excellent way for veteran impressioners to increase their skills. Our class emphasizes standard pin tumbler locks, but these very same techniques can be used on many automotive and high security locks. A demonstration of dimple key locks rounds out this outstanding class.

Materials: All hand tools, key blanks, cylinders other material necessary for this program are supplied by MBA. Participants need bring nothing but a willingness to learn.

The Program: We look at how lock cylinders are constructed, and learn why impressioning is possible. Emphasis is placed of obtaining and recognizing impression marks, as well as proper key filing. A variety key-gripping devices will be available for use, along with several popular varieties of files.
