Tiger Cage : An Untold Story
What must be an interesting and unusual account (based on the reviews on Amazon) by the former Senior Advisor to the South Vietnamese Director of Corrections.
I have to include the note from the publisher, which I was bemused by. "This
is a story so unusual and so full of emotion that even though the setting is Vietnam (a
place currently out of vogue in book publishing) it grabs you. We had to publish it. It's
not about Vietnam, really, it only happens there. Readers will be surprised."
I trust no one here will be put off by the book being about Vietnam . . .

Bows, Ray [author's website] Vietnam Military Lore--Legends, Shadows, and Heroes |
A 1200 page, 51 chapter hardbound work which tells the story of the
Vietnam war from 1945 to 1965 through the eyes of 175 soldiers, sailors, airmen and
Marines who had camps, compounds and airfields named during the war in their
honor. This is an unusual idea well executed. The author offers a money
back guarantee. He is good for it, but you won't need it. Gen. Hal Moore gave
it five stars and who am I to disagree?

Vietnam and the Transformation of American Life (Problems in American History)
From the publisher: "The book is divided into 2
sections. The first outlines the emergence of Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese nationalist
movement and explains why the United States intervened. It discusses the repeated
escalations of the war in the Johnson and Nixon years and the lack of lasting success, and
finally, the causes and consequences of American defeat. The second section examines the
major political and social movements of the 1960s: liberalism, civil rights, and youth
culture. It studies the mass student mobilization against the war, which changed the
nature of American political and social life, giving rise to other movements in
turn."
