This is the bible for aficionados of aircraft museums in the US and it is written by a classmate of mine, Mississinewa HS, 1970. I have to include the note from the publisher, which I was bemused by.  "This is a story so unusual and so full of emotion that even though the setting is Vietnam (a place currently out of vogue in book publishing) it grabs you. We had to publish it. It's not about Vietnam, really, it only happens there. Readers will be surprised."    

I trust no one here will be put off by the book being about Vietnam . . .

A 1200 page, 51 chapter hardbound work which tells the story of the Vietnam war from 1945 to 1965 through the eyes of 175 soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who had camps, compounds and airfields named during the war in their honor.   This is an unusual idea well executed.  The author offers a money back guarantee.  He is good for it, but you won't need it.  Gen. Hal Moore gave it five stars and who am I to disagree?

MARINE LT., 1969: A provocative memoir by a soldier who admits that in certain ways he loved the war. He served in 1969 as a marine lt. in Da Nang. This book was written after his return to Vietnam about 1984. An honest readable book.

An unusual perspective, almost all of these short stories are about Vietnamese now living in Louisiana. It's quite good, won a Pulitzer. The author has a very lyrical writing style. He has a number of novels, most touching on the war in some way.
