Dien Bien Phu Military Museum

dien1f.jpg (73534 bytes) Debris from the siege.    Many of the planes used by the French were hire from us and had American pilots.

The French surrendered after a siege by the Viet Minh which astonished the world.
dien2f.jpg (67153 bytes) This is the interior of the museum.  There was a nice diorama, but the exhibits were only labeled in Vietnamese.
3_dien7f.jpg (78300 bytes) This is a French tank in situ on one of the French strong points.  The story of Dien Bien Phu is one long sad tale of radio transmissions from these outposts going silent.
