Da Nang
From a medical social worker with the 95th:
"This is a photo that was on our 1971 Christmas cards of the 95th Evac
Hospital. A typhoon hit the compound a few months before I arrived and by the time I
got there a new officers club had been built. Behind you would have been Marble
Mountain. The buildings on the left that appear white are Quonset hut wards made out
of metal. In the foreground on the left you might be able to make out the helopad
where the wounded were flown in. The large white building in the center is the mess hall.
The brown colored wood buildings on the right looking at the 95th were staff
housing. In the foreground on the right hand side was the motor pool.
The land all around the hospital was mined. So despite what looked like a reasonably
nice beach, we couldn't go swimming. There was no swimming pool on the compound.
The result is I never got to go swimming incountry once my whole tour."
