Subject: 11 Selected for All-PRU
Team
Eleven Gonzaga players were selected for
the 2002 All-Potomac Rugby Union Team. Selections were made by nine
league coaches based on the player's performance during the 2002 season.
The players representing Gonzaga are eight man Chris Bonilla '02, fullback
Michael Buckley '02, inside center John Clifford '02, flanker Timmy
Conley '02, flanker John duFief '03, scrumhalf Brendan Kelly '02, prop
Tripp Larkin '02, hooker Nathan McGrath '04, lock Tim Murphy '03, outside
center Kevin Rapp '02, and wing Jarrett Thomas '03.

Subject: PRU Falls Short... 17-24
Burtonsville, MD -- On June 9 in the annual
PRU vs. EPRU All-Star match, the Potomac Rugby Union loses to the Eastern
Pennsylvania Rugby Union with the final score of 17 - 24. Gonzaga scrumhalf
Brendan Kelly '02 led the team scoring with two tries for 10 points.
Langley inside center Daniel Smith '02 scored a try, and Andover flyhalf
Mohammed Khairul '04 added a conversion.
Players who represented Gonzaga were fullback
Michael Buckley '02, flanker Timmy Conley '02, wing/outside center John
DuFief '03, scrumhalf Brendan Kelly '02, and hooker Nathan McGrath '04.

Subject: Murphy, Dufief Named Team
Captains
On May 30 at the Team Party, Lock Tim Murphy
'03 and Flanker John Dufief '03 were selected as team captains for the
upcoming Spring 2003 season. Murphy joined the team in 2000 and have
started in the lock position since his Freshman year. He was also selected
as the 2000 Rookie of the Year. Dufief joined the team in 2002 and played
multiple positions in the back line. He was moved into the Flanker position
halfway through the season due to his ability to cover the field and
as a defensive threat. Murphy and Dufief also play on the Varsity Football
Team in the Fall season. Congratulations to our new team captains, who
are looking forward to continue Gonzaga Rugby's winning tradition.

Subject: Conley, Kelly, McGrath
as PRU All-Stars
Flanker Timmy Conley '02, Scrumhalf Brendan
Kelly '02, and Hooker Nathan McGrath '04 were selected to represent
the DC/Virginia Potomac Rugby Union A Side. Over 40 players tried out
for DC/Virginia Team. The three players were the only Gonzaga Rugby
players to try out.

Subject: DC/VA All-Stars Win Inaugural
Match
Washington, DC -- On May 23, the Potomac Rugby Union kicked off its
first annual DC/VA versus MD All-Star Classic Rugby Match. The DC/VA
Team, comprised of Gonzaga, Hyde, Ireton, Langley, NOVA, and West End
claim the bragging rights as they defeated the MD Team with the final
score of 17 - 0. All-Stars representing Gonzaga were Flanker Timmy Conley
'02, Scrumhalf Brendan Kelly '02, and Hooker Nathan McGrath '04.
In the first half, NOVA Eight Man Ryan Lynch '02 and Gonzaga Scrumhalf
Brendan Kelly '02 each scored a try. In the second half, NOVA Flyhalf
Nick Barton '02 scored a try and a conversion.

Doylestown, PA -- On May 4, Gonzaga ended its run
in the first round of the Eastern Regional Championships against Doylestown
with the final score of 10 - 26.
Outside Center Kevin Rapp '02 scored the Eagle's first
try. Wing Jarrett Thomas '03 added a conversion and a penalty
kick.

Gonzaga will play this Saturday-Sunday,
May 4-5 in the Eastern Regional Championships in Doylestown, PA. The
first round game will be against Doylestown at 12:00PM. The team is
staying in SpringHill Suites in Willow Grove, PA.
The team will leave from Gonzaga on Friday
at 4:00PM. Players: bring your picture id and insurance information.

Subject: 3-peat Potomac Rugby Union
Champs
Gonzaga defeated NOVA in the Potomac Rugby Union Championships
with the final score of 31 - 8. Down by eight points 25 minutes
into the first half, Gonzaga scored 31 unanswered points to capture
its fourth PRU Championship in five years. Gonzaga qualifies for
the Eastern Regionals for its sixth consecutive season.
Wing Jarrett Thomas '03 scored a try, three penalty kicks
and a conversion to lead all scores with 16 points. Fullback Michael
Buckley '02 scored two tries for 10 points. Eight Man Chris Bonilla
'02 scored the Eagle's first try with two minutes left in the first
half.

Subject: Eagles Advance to PRU Finals
Gonzaga defeated MD Exiles in the Potomac Rugby Union semifinals with
the final score of 17 -12 to advance to its sixth consecutive
championship match. In the semifinal match against the MD Exiles, Fullback
Michael Buckley '02, Flyhalf Matt Ginivan '02, and Scrumhalf Brendan
Kelly '02 each scored a try.
In the first round match, Gonzaga defeated Severn River with the final
score of 44 - 3. Flyhalf Matt Ginivan '02 scored two tries to
lead all scores with 10 points.

Information
The Potomac Rugby Union Championships are
on Saturday, April 20 at New Windsor, MD. Gonzaga has the #2 seed in
the tournament. Championship matches are on Sunday.
The A team will play at 9AM against Severn River on Field 3. The A Team
will play again at 3PM depending on the results of the first round matches.
The B Team will play at 1:30PM against Langley on Field 2. The B Team
will play again at 4:30PM against John Carroll on Field 2.
