Empty Drum Recycling Service

 Act locally, think globally

Mark Massicotte, Operations Manager, Pharmacal Research Laboratories, has announced the Pharmacal Container Management Program. Starting this October, our customers can now recycle the Pharmacal 30 and 55 gallon containers at NO charge!!

The Program is very simple to join.  The 30 gallon and 55 gallon HDPE Pharmacal drums will arrive in your facility with a plastic sleeve.  Printed on the sleeve is an "888" number.  When you have finished with the container, rinse it and replace the bunges. Call the "888" number (toll free) and request to recycle the container.  You will be provided with a bill of lading and your drum will then be picked up within five business days. You can send one or as many drums at one time as you wish (although it probably would be easier for you to send a lot back at one time).

You will not be billed for this new service!!

You won't see your old drum again. All our chemicals are shipped in new natural color opaque containers.  We will not be reusing these drums.  Our recycler will reuse them and we will continue to purchase brand new drums.  So do something good for Planet Earth and your budget at the same time.

Instead of paying to landfill these drums, let's all recycle together.  If you have questions about Pharmacal's Container Management Program, ask your representative or call us at 1-800-243-5350.

Annick Lavallée Joins Pharmacal

Pharmacal Research Laboratories welcomes Annick Lavallée to our sales and service group covering Quebec and the Maritimes area of Canada.  Annick acknowledges her influence from her father Roger Lavallée.  Roger was the Pharmacal representative in this area until ill health caused him to resign.  Annick notes that her Dad is doing much better, and of course he is offering her a great deal of help and encouragement, not to mention a lot of fatherly advice!!

Annick's background is certainly in scientific pursuits.  She obtained the Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in Montreal, and holds a zoology major.  She desired  a marketable  and diverse undergraduate experience, and took several courses in microbiology, cell biology, bio-chem and ecology.  Initially following graduation she wanted to move into pharmaceutical research.  However, she looked into a sales position and found that she enjoyed the life on the road. When she was approached by Pharmacal to take over this territory, she thought it would be a good use of her background and her talents.

Annick was married on 22 August 1998 in the hospital where her dad was staying for treatment.  As of this date, Roger is now home and continuing treatments.

Pharmacal welcomes Annick to our family.  Contact her at our toll-free number:

1-800-243-5350.

Skin Protection for the Health Care Professional

Skin cleansing  is one of the most important aspects in preventing  the transmission of infectious nosocomal diseases.  It is the first line of defense for the health care professional, as well as food handlers and anyone employed in critical  areas. Hand washing is defined as the rubbing together of all lathered skin surfaces of the hands and lower arms followed by rinsing under running water.  Health care personnel commonly wash their hands between 20 and 30 times each day.

The Pharma-Clenz System is composed of three items which work in harmony to eliminate the potential disease vectors that exist between health care personnel and the environmental factors surrounding them.  Pharma-Clenz Skin Cleanser is an antimicrobial skin soap.  This soap is formulated with chloroxyenol (PCMX) to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases and to remove the transient microorganisms picked up from an animal or the environment.  A single wash removed 99% of the gram positive bacteria, and 98% of the gram negative bacteria in 30 seconds.  Pharma-Clenz Skin Cleanser is mild to skin, non-irritating, and will not promote chaffing, swelling, rash, or redness.

Pharma-Clenz  Hand and Body Lotion is designed for the health care personnel who are exposed to repeated hand washing.  Pharma-Clenz  Hand and Body Lotion is formulated with natural moisturizers, skin softeners, and Vitamins A and E to soothe the skin and yet not inhibit the effectiveness of the antimicrobial skin cleanser.

Pharma-Clenz Barrier Cream Protectant is specially formulated to bond with the epithelial layer of the skin.  This bond actually keeps most elements from penetrating in to the lower layers of the skin.  Problem elements stay isolated on the skin's surface where they can easily be removed by hand washing.

Facilities that require shower-in protocol must include an antimicrobial skin cleanser for the employee's use in the shower area.  Further protection for the facility and the individual would then be afforded with the entire Pharma-Clenz system.  These products carry documentation showing their killing ability.  Does store-bought supposedly "antimicrobial" soap provide you with this documentation?

Each of these three products are available in convenient 16 ounce bottles.  They may be purchased by product in cases of one dozen.  For additional information please contact your Pharmacal representative or call us at 1-800-243-5350.
