Postcards from Aquitaine

We're living and working in southwestern France for a couple of months, near Smile, breathe the town of Sainte Foy la Grande. The region is called Aquitaine, the department Dordogne. It's about 85 kilometers east of Bordeaux, in rolling hills covered with vineyards and fields of wheat and sunflowers, with an occasional copse of luxuriant trees. The countryside here is so beautiful and the towns so full of interesting history that we want to share some of our photos with you.

So we're sending you a few postcards here on the Web, and wherever you are—as this highway sign says—you can smile . . . , and breathe . . . , just as though you were in Aquitaine too. Click on the town-limit signs to the left (or on the names at the bottom of the page) to get the postcards. Or you can look at a map first and then get the postcards.

To enjoy reading the postcards as much as we've enjoyed writing them, we suggest you use a recent version of the Microsoft or Netscape browser (4.0 or better). You can get around Aquitaine with an older version, but you'll smile a bit more broadly if you update your browser first. Microsoft's site for Internet Explorer is here, and Netscape's for Navigator and Communicator is here. You may also want to set your monitor for at least 256 colors, and the resolution at 800 by 600 pixels or better, if you can.

Oh, yes, be sure to send us an e-mail, too. The address is robert@robertsilvey.com.

Wish you were here!
