Background:
I am not a mage by choice, but more by necessity. My life as a mage began early in life, at the age of 12, I believe, when an unusual thing happened to me as I was getting teased by some of the other boys in my village of Arnow. I was smaller than most so was the target of bullys and other teasing children. Then the day came when I got so upset with being teased I swung at the boy who was teasing me at the time. Ryndall the blacksmiths son, he was a huge child, even though he was only 14 he was 6" taller than any of the other children and he out weighed me by at least 30 pounds, I knew I didnt stand a chance. Thats when the nightmare began, as I swung he saw it coming and sidestepped my blow, making my sad attempt look even more pathetic. I fell down being off balance from the overextended swing, and then he kicked me a few times when I was on the ground. I curled up to protect myself from the kicks when I began to feel a burning sensation in my head, it hurt more than anything I had ever felt. I screamed from the pain, and thats when it happened, I reached out to try and signal that I needed help and a burst of fire came from my hand and nearly struck Ryndall in the head. Thankfully it missed him, but it did hit the wall of the barn we were in and the whole barn burned to the ground. Since that day no one in my town ever teased me again, they also made me an outcast because nobody would even come within 10 feet of me. They feared me because of what I did. Eventually my parents had to move to another village, and begin a new life. This happened twice more before they gave up on me and sought help.
They went to a nearby town after I accidentally burned down the elders house in the village we lived in at the time. The town of Vesper was the largest place I had ever visited. My parents went to an herb shop inquiring about any mages in the town. The shopkeeper directed them to a local practitioner of the arts named Zelkorian. We saw this man who was in his late 50s at the time and after he looked me over he asked if I had had any training in magic, of course I said no. He asked me to read a piece of parchment that he handed me, I looked at it, the paper had strange runes on it that I had never seen before, then the runes started to move slightly and I understood what some of the runes were. He said I had natural ability with magic and he would train me, but I had to stay with him in his home as a servant for payment. I didnt like the idea of leaving home at the age of 13 but my parents said it would be better for me (and everyone else in my village). I spent my days cleaning the house and running errands, and my nights studying piles of tomes that Zelkorian said would help me with my skills. I spent the better part of two years there, until I was out running an errand and saw a thief stealing a womans pouch. I yelled for the guards and there were none around so I grabbed the components for a spell I learned to make the thief more clumsy. I started the right spell and somehow it got away from me and turned into a fireball. The thief survived but was never the same, and I got thrown into jail until Zelkorian got me out and was told he had to get rid of me because I was a danger to the townfolk. It was then that Zelkorian realized his teachings were not enough. He brought me to a meeting of his mages guild, I was very nervous knowing everyone there was a mage of great skill. I was the subject of several conversations with the end result being my having to move again, this time with a mage named Carsan, everyone that mentioned his name did so with a reverence I only understood much later in life.I became an apprentice mage to Carsan when I was 15 just after my birthday. Zelkorian and two other mages who I never saw again brought me to a manor house, a few days journey
from Vesper. It was there I would learn my true nature as an uncontrolled force of magic. Carsan became my mentor and teacher in all things. I was kept separated from the family that lived in the manor house. The Rosmars whos home I lived in were very nice and after five years of rigorous training Carsan allowed me to interact with them. I became the tailor for some of their clothes ("A lesson in Humility" Carsan said).
I was not there when House Rosmar was destroyed, though it was I that first found the carnage of the aftermath. I vowed my support to Hunter and Brianna shorty thereafter, when they first made there way back to Vesper. My magics are as strong as ever, and my control even better...Beware, Evil! Malhavoc hunts you!
