Background: Arlon, son of Angst and Emila Farandril was raised in the town of Yew. Angst had been the Standard Bearer for the Lord of Rosmar County, but had lost the use of his left arm when the kite shield he was holding gave way under the assault of a troll.
Angst, a man naturally given to Humility, had never told Arlon the full truth about his past as a warrior. As far as Arlon knew, his father was just a shield bearer for the archers in Rosmar's army, and had never been particularly heroic. Angst often told Arlon stories of paladins of old, and the heroics of certain particular individuals in Rosmar's army, the most notable being Hefyrt, Bane of Trolls. As a boy, Arlon was fascinated by such tales, and when he became of age, traveled to Trinsic to train in the Paladin's Hall.
When Arlon completed his Apprentice training, he knew that he needed to gain some practical knowledge of warfare from an experienced veteran. Remembering his father's stories, Arlon went North to Vesper, to seek Hefyrt. Arlon eventually found Hefyrt, but first he found the Rosmars, and hearing their tragic tale, and feeling the sense of history that his father had with Hunter's and Brianna's father, joined as a member of the Honor Guard of the House of Rosmar.
