Southside Regional Medical Center (SRMC) School of Nursing is a 3-year
diploma school of nursing preparing its graduates for registered nurse licensure
(RN).

All students admitted to the school must
be high school graduates or GED recipients. Students preparing for nusing
education should be taking college preparatory courses in high school. Algebra,
Biology, and Chemistry are required pre-requisites on the high school level.
We also encourage applicants to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test. Preference
is given to those applicants who have ranked in the top one-third of their
high school class. Transfer credit for previously earned college credits
which pertain to the School of Nursing curriculum may be granted; however,
all transcripts are evaluated on an individual basis. Students with English
as a second language must obtain a minumum score of 500 on the Test of English
as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
College support courses for the school are taught at Richard
Bland College, the junior college of The College of William and Mary
in Virginia. SRMC students may have the opportunity to earn an Associate
Degree in Science from Richard Bland while pursuing their nursing diploma.
Current enrollment has a student age range of 18 to 40+ years. We welcome
applications from high school students, from second career seekers, and
others who see professional nursing as an exciting career for the 21st century!
