Notes: Since this is the album that starts out with the trademark STOMP STOMP CLAP of We Will Rock You, my bet is that it was the most purchased Queen album ever. WWRY and its companion, We Are The Champions, are certainly the most over-played songs in the Queen catalog. Once you get past those, the album really spreads out. Sheer Heart Attack, written by Taylor, is a pure punk song, followed quickly by All Dead, All Dead, May's quiet, piano-driven lament about...a stray cat. If I hadn't heard it from his own mouth, I wouldn't have believed it.

NOTW is another of Queen's stylistically diverse album, and it includes a Latin-feeling acoustic number, Who Needs You. It's Late is always the song I play for people who think Eddie Van Halen (a good friend of Brian May) invented finger-tapping on the guitar; May's solo includes a lengthy (but tasteful) section of finger-tapping. Sleeping on the Sidewalk is pretty much a straight-forward blues romp, and combined with the other cuts on this album, cements Queen's place among the most diverse bands ever.
