     20" The Coast Is Clear

Known for their wonderful, animated work together, Joanne and Dick have created this story-like piece.

Dick created the house, chimney and roofline of wood.  Joanne stained the trim wood and applied a scaled-down version of stucco in order to resemble an English Tudor house. She then covered the chimney with real slate pieces set into tile grout and finished the chimney cap to look like cement. The snow effect was the greatest challenge, but as one can see, the result is quite effective. Mounds of sparkling, glittery snow not only decorate the roof but also provide a secure place for Santa to stand without the use of any additional aids.

Santa steps onto the snow covered roof and, using a lantern, peers down the chimney flue to be sure "the coast is clear" before he makes an attempt to deliver the wonderful toys and goodies he has in his bag!

Santa is a fully jointed mohair bear with flexible arms, glass eyes and suede needle-sculpted nostril nose.  His paw and foot pads are ultra suede.  Dressed in velvet with cream fur trim, black leather boots and belt, he is easily recognized for the most famous giver of gifts! And what an assortment of gifts he has! From a porcelain doll and clown music box to the fruit decorated tree, Santa's bag of goodies is sure to please the little bears who await his visit!
