Sundance Publishing, L.P. ("Sundance") is a leading publisher of PreK-3 reading instructional materials, and a publisher and distributor of K-12 literature-based reading skills and language arts learning materials. Sundance began over 25 years ago as a school-market distributor of quality paperback books, and was among the first to provide teacher and student materials for using literature in the classroom for instruction in reading and other curricula. Today Sundance has grown to become a leading publisher and distributor of hundreds of programs that include outstanding books, and literature-based video, audio and CD-ROM products. Distinguished by its strong commitment to innovative reading instruction, Sundance serves more than 175,000 teachers throughout the United States and internationally. Some of the Company's best known programs include Little Red Readers (guided emergent reading), Supa-Doopers (early chapter books), LEAP (enrichment activities for grades 4-6), LIFT (critical thinking activities for middle schools) and Novel Ideas (reading skills for high schools). Recently introduced products include: SoundStarts (phonics), and The Book Project - the first reading program to fully integrate real literature and skills. Frederic S. Johnson, President and Chief Executive Officer Fred Johnson joined Sundance Publishing in July 1993. As Chief Executive Officer, he participated in all aspects of the Company's day-to-day management and operations. Mr. Johnson has been involved in publishing and communications media for over thirty-five years. He has served in senior marketing positions at CBS Records and Times Mirror; he founded and managed The Center for Humanities, one of the nation's leading publishers of audiovisual programming for colleges and secondary schools; and he founded F. Johnson Associates, a firm that provided consulting, project management and marketing services to clients in publishing and communications. Among his clients were Times Warner, Lorimar, Henson Associates, Scholastic, Scott Foresman, Harcourt General, RJR Nabisco and Vanderbilt University. Mr. Johnson holds both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees from Harvard University.
