Dr. Levin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his Medical Degree from the University of Missouri. He then completed Residency and General and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship training at The University of Chicago. He joined West Suburban Cardiology in 1999 after many years at the University of Chicago where he was Assistant Professor of Medicine, Creator and Director of the Chest Pain Evaluation Program, and Associate Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Dr. Levin is an interventional cardiologist with expertise in all types of coronary and peripheral vascular revascularization procedures including Angioplasty, Stent Implantation, Extraction and Angiojet Thrombectomy, and Directional and Rotational Atherectomy. He also has extensive experience in treating peripheral vascular disease including patients with carotid artery disease, renovascular disease, and claudication. Dr. Levin also performs Valvuloplasty procedures for the treatment of Aortic and Mitral valve stenosis. He has also participated in numerous clinical investigational trials including national cooperative trials of new device therapies and new medical treatment for acute coronary syndromes and catheter procedures. Dr. Levin continues to participate in the development of national guidelines and is currently involved in the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Task Force writing guidelines for the evaluation and management of Unstable Angina and Non ST Elevation MI. Those Guidelines were published in the September, 2000 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (2000;36(3):970-1062) and in Circulation 2000;102:1193-1209. He has also authored multiple sections in interventional cardiology for the CD-ROM Up-to-Date. Dr. Levin is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. He is also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr. Levin is also board certified in Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Levin specializes in invasive cardiology and catheter treatment of valvular disease, coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular disease. He also has an interest in medical databases and internet medical applications. Dr. Levin is currently medical director of the CCU at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
