BSP-
Business Service Provider
An infrequently used predecessor to ASP, BSPs help businesses manage expense reporting,
time tracking, human resource management, and other core business applications on the Web.
CSP -
Commerce Service Provider
allows companies to sell products and services over the Internet and to accept payments
securely through online credit card authorization
also known as ESP - E-commerce service provider or E-Services Providers
CSP - Content Service Provider
A CSP is a company that provides data and information for inclusion on the Web. Good
examples are Isyndicate and Streetmail
CSP -Communication Service
Provider
A generic term used to encompass all forms of communication (phone, fax, mobile, wireless,
etc.) CSPs provide end to end connectivity in a multi owner, multi vendor, and multi
technology environment.
IISP - Internet Infrastructure Service Provider
delivers turnkey ready-to-operate wholesale, Internet network and supporting
services to business customers. This includes the provisioning of infrastructure,
technical issues, network design, installation and
operations, and business functions such as billing and provision of helpdesk services.
LSP - LHSP - List Hosting
Service Provider
E-mail mailing list outsourcing. LSPs handle the delivery of large quantities of
listserv type mailing list messages.
MSP - Management Service
Provider
deliver system management services to IT departments and other customers who manage their
own technology assets
OSP - On-Line Service Provider
companies such as AOL (America On-line), Compuserve an MSN (Microsoft Network). They
usually provide Internet connectivity similar to an ISP's, but unlike an ISP, they also
provide their own content.
PSP - Payment Service Provider
A PSP is an outside service that verifies and processes credit card transactions online.
This allows customers to buy and pay for products and services directly from a Web
site, using the payment method of their choice.
SSP- Security Service
Provider
security service providers are responsible for protecting IT infrastructures.
