About Silkie...

(.)(.) Silkie, son of Sugarfoot, is a Scottish fold whose ears do not fold down. He is now four years old — and is a wonderful guy!

His coat does indeed reflect his name, but he was actually named after the Scottish term for a mythical sea creature — Selkie. Selkies are creatures who are half seal, half human. They have been sung about in traditional folk songs like The Great Selkie of Shule Skerrie, and have been a source of Celtic legend. These legendary creatures are currently the focus of John Sayles's wonderful film, The Secret of Roan Inish.

Celtic tales aside, our Silkie prefers to spend his time sitting and watching out the window, preying on and fetching tie wraps, hiding in the cardboard that goes over software boxes, or just plain sleeping. He is never far from either of us, and often spends afternoons curled up on a mouse pad. In fact, he has learned to navigate the web by clicking the mouse with his tail!
