This four week course will be held in the store on four consecutive Wednesday evenings in January 1998, and costs $50. Simon & Schuster editor, John Ordover , will teach the fundamentals of professional fiction writing, both short stories and novels, including plot structure, characterization, proper manuscript format and also what a literary agent can and cannot do for you. Genres from science fiction and mysteries to mainstream literature will be covered.
Students will be required to submit two short stories or chapters for critique by the instructor and the class in a workshop environment. The emphasis will be on making the jump from being unpublished to being published, from aspiring amateur to professional writer. For further information call Alan Zimmerman at 212-385-8798.
