THE DARK SIDE OF VINTAGE PAPERBACK BOOKS
POLITICAL CORRECTNESS WARNING!
Tawdry Town has been set up as a forum for the examination, consideration and exhibition of paperback books produced by both the major publishers and the semi-underground following World World II.  Before entering Tawdry Town, please consider that many may find the books on exhibit therein and the attitudes of the authors offensive.  This is because they are offensive, to most modern sensibilities, at any rate.  In the humble opinion of the creator of this site, the fact that they are offensive to some degree does not render them unworthy of study and even enjoyment.   Please be on notice that the creator of this site does not endorse violence toward women, unsafe sex, negative attitudes toward or stereotyping of gays, lesbians, African-Americans, Asian-Americans, African-Africans, Asian-Asians, or Latinos, whether residents of bordertowns or otherwise; wrestling and/or hairpulling among women in lingerie, or any of the other multitudinous reprehensible acts depicted in these books.  If you are unable or unwilling to view these works within their historical context, please do not enter Tawdry Town.

TAWDRY TOWN IS RATED PG-13

The previous edition of Tawdry Town included a "Nobody Under the Age of 18" warning.  Having given some additional thought to the matter, I have concluded that Tawdry Town is an unlikely target of prosecution, given the proliferation of commercial sites offering explicit images of rape, bestiality, etc.  Nonetheless, I feel compelled to point out that a number of the book covers displayed herein may display partial nudity, and some of the text quotes preserved in the galleries may describe at least semi-explicit sexual conduct.  Although it is the personal opinion of the creator of this website that any episode of "Beverly Hills 90210" is more likely to be harmful to the underage viewer, (not to mention more brain-rot inducing), than a visit to this site;
