The Osborne Association was incorporated in 1931 following the death of its founder Thomas Mott Osborne. The OA serves individuals involved in the criminal justice and juvenile justice systems through programs for prisoners and their families, throughout New York City. The Association has offices in three boroughs in New York City, and provides services at several New York State Correctional Facilities.

Assigned Counsel Services:
Provides assigned (court-appointed) lawyers and their clients with individualized pre-plea and pre-sentence investigations and reports, investigating mitigating circumstances and advocating individualized sentencing options, including treatment or community-based sanctions in appropriate cases.

El Rio(The River):
Offers licensed intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment in the South Bronx, using traditional counseling and 12-step techniques along with acupuncture and other holistic approaches to provide a highly structured and effective alternative to prison for drug offenders.

FamilyWorks:
Mends the ties that are broken when a father is incarcerated, and reduces the trauma for children left behind, through a prison-based parenting program, family visiting centers for incarcerated fathers and their families at two men's state prisons, and community-based services for families affected by incarceration.

Fresh Start:
Offers training in culinary arts and journalism to Rikers Island inmates and, at OA's Bronx site, to all Osborne program's participants, enabling them to receive a Food Handler's Certificate and assisting them in finding full time employment in the restaurant and food service industry.

HIV Services for Prisoners:
includes HIV counseling & testing, HIV education, support services and discharge planning at New York State prisons. The AIDS In Prison Hotline, the First Hotline in the country established for prisoners, accepts collect calls and provides information and discharge planning to inmate callers. Staff and volunteers provide AIDS/HIV education to about 1,000 inmates and accept more than 3,000 collect calls each year.

HIV/AIDS Services in the Community:
include Living-Well, a model case management, education and outreach program for HIV+ parolees and their families, providing intensive case management, support groups, relapse prevention, counseling, housing placement, referrals to primary health care, civil legal services and family services; and the Buddy Program, in which clients who have completed Osborne programs offer peer support and assistance to new clients.

La Fuente (The Fountain):
is a walk-in harm reduction/recovery readiness program designed to offer low-threshold treatment, decreasing the negative consequences of drug use (e.g. HIV transmission) through engaging people in services and care including food; counseling and crisis intervention; acupuncture for reduction of craving/detoxification; and drug, health and HIV education.

Legit:
diverts young men and women arrested and processed through the Brooklyn Family Court for drug selling and delinquent behavior into a youth entrepreneurship program that channels their entrepreneurship skills into legitimate income-producing micro-enterprises, while providing educational counseling and support.
