Integrating Software Development with Research and Teacher Education

Nurit Zehavi
Computers in the Schools, Vol. 11, No. 3, 1995, p. 11-24

This article describes three integrated development cycles for a series of game-and-tutorial type software packages for teaching mathematics: (a) development of a software package: rationale and didactics; (b) cognitive studies leading to a more effective interaction between student, modified software and teacher; and (c) organization of pedagogical knowledge for implementing the software in the classroom. Each cycle included development, research, and teacher-education activities. Based on the results of these using these cycles, a framework of criteria for designing and evaluating professional training courses is suggested.
