Description of the development of an Interactive Multimedia Distribution System at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. The requirements included campus-wide access, interactivity, random access, random search, multimedia authoring, cross platform, Web environment, and media digitizing. The system design consists of four main parts: client workstation and the user interface, the distributed multimedia controller system, the media storage and playback system, and multimedia networks. The system was installed in August 1995.
