Save Before Closing: Bringing Technology to the Liberal Arts

Carol J. Guardo and Scott Rivinius

Liberal Education, Summer 1995, p. 22-27

This article addresses the concerns among Liberal Arts and Sciences instructors about the role and use of technology in their subjects. The guiding principles presented are to stress the primacy of educational over technological goals; that education is a relational process involving human interaction; that faculty members act as the central node for education; and that technology provides new tools to transform teaching and learning by extending the faculty members' range of expertise and resources.
