This article describes Adobe's attempt to design a universal publishing
format for Acrobat. The format, Portable Document Format (PDF), is a file
structure that can describe and encapsulate the graphic design, typography,
individual typefaces, and multimedia data contained in a complex formatted
document. The article goes on to suggest that Acrobat be used with the World
Wide Web to extend the range of digital publishing.
