Inclusion of students with disabilities in integrated educational settings
has become a major issue in education today. The influx of students into
the mainstream may present new challenges for regular and special educators
alike. Regular and special educators will have to develop new collaborative
strategies designed to successfully integrate students with disabilities.
Educators' competence in assessment of student performance and use of these
data to plan educational/behavioral interventions are necessary for successful
inclusion of students with disabilities. Generally, and at times with good
reason, these competencies are not in the repertoire of special and regular
educators. This article describes the "Direct Observation Data System
(DODS)", a series of computer-based programs designed to facilitate
educational professional's competence in these areas.
