LeAne Rutherford and Sheryl Grana
T.H.E. Journal, Sept. 1995, p. 82-86
This paper notes the importance of incorporating technology in curricula,
and some issues that prevent instructors from learning new technologies.
The issues are: fear of change, fear of time commitment, fear of appearing
incompetent, fear of techno lingo, fear of techno failure, fear of not knowing
where to start, fear of being married to bad choices, fear of having to
more backward to go forward, and fear or rejection or reprisals. Strategies
to overcome these fears are to: be realistic, decide who's boss, ease into
the technological flow, become familiar with techno-culture, play, network
with others, and reverse roles.
